Bachelorette Ali Picks Roberto! | Us Weekly
Sorry, Chris Lambton: Ali Fedotowsky says her heart belongs to Roberto Martinez!
On Monday's Bachelorette finale, Fedotowsky told Lambton, a 33-year-old contractor from Cape Cod, Mass., that she was in love with Martinez — just before the two were supposed to go on their final date.
"I'm in such a weird place right now because this is coming to an end…me and my family the other day, they loved you…tomorrow, I'm at a point where….I don't know what to do," Fedotowsky, 25, told Lambton as tears welled up in her eyes. "I feel like you have all the qualities that I want in somebody — everything! You're one of the best men I've ever been able to meet in my whole life. I mean that."
She continued, "I think that even if two people really enjoy spending time together…I don't know that that necessarily means that it's supposed to be. Do you understand what I'm saying? I'm in love with somebody else. I have to let you go here and not wait until tomorrow. This wasn't an easy decision. It was really hard. I just didn't want to put you through tomorrow because I know that's going to be so hard."
But Martinez — who popped the question with a dazzling Neil Lane sparkler — was a hit with Fedotowsky's family during the trip to Bora Bora, Tahiti.
"He just fit right in," Fedotowsky said after Martinez gave her family impromptu salsa lessons. "He was chatting with everyone!"
Throughout the show, Fedotowsky's attraction to the ex-minor league baseball player was evident. Within moments of meeting Martinez, she called him "handsome," a "cutie" and "sexy" — and rewarded him with a first-impression rose after sharing a steamy salsa dance.
As Us Weekly previously reported, Martinez, a 26-year-old insurance agent from Charleston, S.C., had long been the show's frontrunner — and the two may have even ran in the same circle of friends prior the show.
"I love Roberto," Fedotowsky gushed on the finale. "I love him. I've never ever in my whole life felt this good in a relationship."
Since choosing to be with Martinez, Fedotowsky says she's learned a lot from her run as the Bachelorette — even if the relationship doesn't last a lifetime.
