“I was inspired by the colors of Lucy’s [Zuhair Murad] dress,” Mark celebrity makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan exclusively tells Us Weekly. “We don’t usually go so dark on the eyes and thought a fun music awards show was the time to push the darkness a bit.”

Deenihan started with the black shade from the Mark on the Dot Smokey Eye Color Compact on the top lash line, slightly smoking out the corners. Then, to bring out the violet shades in Hale’s ensemble, she swiped the plum shade from the brand’s On the Dot Neutral Eye Color Compact across the lid and under the lash line. The makeup artist added the All Time Eye Shadow in Thunder Cloud at the top of the lid and at the inner corner for a touch of shimmer, and finished with Dior Diorshow Mascara.

With her bold eye in place, Deenihan, who also works with Jodie Foster and Lily-Rose Depp, kept the rest of Hale’s look simple. She contoured the “You Sound Good to Me” singer’s cheeks with Mark Sunset Glow Face Bronzer and applied the All Butter Now Lip Treat in the rosy Bare All shade for a hint of color on her pout.
